Answers

    1. a) self-isolate. The answer is not quarantine. This is something you are expected to do on your own in your own home, not in another designated place.
    2. b) persistent. The answer is not “dry”. Although Coronavirus does cause people to have a “dry cough”, so does central heating and other things. What we need to look out for is the persistent nature of the cough. It does not go away. Another possible answer might be “a persistent dry cough”.
    3. c) respiratory or acute respiratory. However, generally speaking if the person already has symptoms of Coronavirus and then develops acute respiratory problems, that is the time to reach out for medical help rather than just self-isolating.
    1. a) distancing
    2. b) transmission
  1. misinformation
  2. ramping up
  3. surface transmission
  4. asthma
  5. pandemic
  6. altruistic

    Dear Liz,
I hope this email finds you well.
I had to pass IELTS test once when I was in Saudi Arabia a few years ago. I had only ONE week after registeration. That was in Ramadan, and I was fasting on a hot day trip to Jeddah in the west from Jazan in the south. I had only your very useful videos, audios and exercises, along with my prayers.
    I passed.
    Thank you very much.

You are so amazing. Your teachings are top notch and easy to comprehend..Keep up the good work and more power to your elbow. As regards the listening part, how audible is the speaker please? Cheers.

    • I’m glad you like my lessons 🙂 Do you mean the speaker in the IELTS test? Many test centres using headphones and that is preferable. However, you will need to check if there are any test centres in your country that use them. If your test centre using speakers, the quality will vary depending on the centre and country. Some will be better than others. You can ask to have the volume increased if required – speak to the invigilator before the test about it.

  23. Cristiane says

    Hi Liz,

Just wanted to share good news. I got my score results yesterday and I’m thrilled with my 7.5 overall (Reading 8.0, Writing 7.5, Speaking 7.5, Listening 7.0)!

Since I had just about 10 days to study and prepare for the exam, I really had a hard time looking for reliable sources on the internet when I came across with your website, which was wonderful. I found everything I needed in one place and I can assure you that you made a difference in my exam.

I’m pretty sure I might be able to get a higher score if I take another go at the Ielts exam. (…now that I have obtained the minimum score needed for my MBA at the University of Toronto, I might feel less anxious and avoid the previous mistakes..)

Thanks a million!!! Congrats on your work!

    • It’s great to read your good news at this difficult time. Very well done 🙂 It often helps to take the test again, but take your time to review your understanding of the test and the band score requirements. Good luck!
