Why your IELTS results are withheld
When you apply for your IELTS test and fill in the application form, you will find the terms and conditions attached to the form. You should read these terms and conditions very carefully because you will find three points which explain that your results may be withheld or cancelled.
IELTS Terms and Conditions: Withholding Results
The following points can be found on your IELTS application form under the terms and conditions:
- Your result may not be issued 13 days after the test if the IELTS Test Partners decide that it is necessary to review any matter associated with your test or the administration of your test. To assist any investigation, you may be required to provide writing and speaking samples. In exceptional circumstances you may be required to re-take one or more IELTS components.
The above point explains that you may not get your results after 13 days because IELTS want to check them more carefully. There are two main reasons given: 1) they want to check your test again 2) they are doing quality control checks on how the test is managed.
- Your result may be cancelled after it has been issued if any irregularity is identified. You may be required to re-take one or more IELTS components.
This means that if there are any problems with your test, your results might be cancelled and you might need to take your test again or part of your test again. An “irregularity” means that something occurred relating to your test or how it was managed which was not usual or acceptable.
- If any of the data on the Test Report Form provided by you or your agent to Recognising Organisations has been altered in any way, your original test result may be cancelled.
This point shows that if any information you give has been altered, your result might be cancelled. So, be careful about providing the right information and only use reputable agents.
You now see that IELTS have the right to withhold or cancel your results for certain reasons, usually for analysing and quality checking.
When you sign your application form, you also agree that you accept a possible delay in results. Your signature is agreeing to the terms and conditions above.
IELTS will email you if your results are withheld or cancelled. If you don’t get this email, check your spam folder or contact your test center.
What can you do about it?
If your results have been delayed, you just need to wait and be patient.
Your results will arrive but there is no fixed time limit. Some students receive their results within just one week or a couple of weeks. However, for others, it might be longer – a month or even 3 months.
Can you take your test again? Sure you can. See below for advice:

If you don’t want to wait, you can take your test again.
When you take more than one test, you can choose which results to use. You can choose to use the highest results. So, it won’t matter that you end up with two sets of results – just choose the best one to use for your future.
Booking your Test in Advance
When you decide the date for your IELTS test make sure you have a few months before your actual deadline because your results might not arrive after 13 days.
Give yourself lots of time to prepare for IELTS and to get your results!!

Hello Liz! I sat the IELTS Academic (computer based) test on August 1st and they had informed me that within 7 calendar days I would have gotten my results. I kept checking the Test Taker Portal everyday under the tab “results” and I kept seeing the status as “awaiting results”. Suddenly though, on day 5 it changed and it only said “Results” (instead of awaiting) under the status so I thought they were out! Nope. They still aren’t out (today is the seventh day) and I called the British council because my local test center somehow does not pick up their phone at all, and they told me that they will first send me an email to inform me that they are out… I need the results quickly, do you know if this means they will be delayed?
Nevermind, I got my results the same day!
I wrote a computer-based test exactly two weeks ago and my results are not out yet. I didn’t receive any information whatsoever as to the state of my result yet when I send emails and social media messages to British Council Nigeria, all I get is silence. I’m so exasperated. This is very unprofessional, to say the least. How can they treat people like this?

Hi mam, I am Umer Yakoob, and I have taken two IELTS tests (Academic and General training) last month. The Academic test i gave was a conputer delivered one, and I scored 8 in Listening, 8 in Reading, 7 in Writing and 7 in Speaking. But, the General test I took was a badly conducted one which took 5 hours and 45 minutes, due to some tech ical glitches in the listening part of the test. Hence, I could score only 6.5 in listening, 7 in reading, 7 in writing and 7.5 in speaking.
Now, my query is, Is it true that, If i took a test sooner and when the results come, IDP won’t give me not more than 2 bands in the Listening part ?.. I needed to score a minimum of 8 in Listening part, but I read on Quora that, IDP or BC has the pereception that English can’t be learnt in 2 weeks, so they will either limit my score from 6.5 to 7.5 maximum, or will withheld my results for 6 months. Is there any rule as such ?..

There is no such rule that your score is limited prior to your test by IELTS. You have misunderstood what IELTS is explaining to you. IELTS believe, as far as I can see, that it is unlikely your score will change dramatically between one test and another because it takes a long time for someone to develop their English. It is 100% true that to learn a language and improve takes time. However, in my opinion, it does not mean you can’t improve your score dramatically. If your score is low because your English is weak, taking another test is not the answer. However, if your score is low because you didn’t understand the test properly, then it is easy to change your score – all you have to do is learn more about the test and train in the test – this is quick to do. So, as you can see, your potential score is based on two factors a) your level of English b) how much you are prepared for this specific test.
Each test is marked independently. The score for one test does NOT influence the score for the second test. you got a lower score in your GT test because you didn’t perform well = that is the only reason. As you said, it was badly conducted and this is the likely reason you didn’t perform well. You can take as many tests as you want and each test will be marked separately based on your achievements in that one test.

Hi mam,this is Vandna,i was appeared in IELTS exam last year on 18th July,2019 and on my result date(31st july,2019)that my result is withheld and i have to send a handwritten statement.As told,i sent my statement and they gave me an approximate date upto 25th September,2019 for updates and result.Now,it’s been more than 6 months and even yet,i have not received any results from the same.I am so tensed that what to do. In every e-mail they give dates of next month and then they postpone it again,even this 12th Feb,2020 is the respective date..but still ..my result is pending.Mam please give some advise for the same.I shall be very helpful for me.Thank You.

What is the current status of your test results? Whether IELTS IDP has published the results or not? Did you take another test?
Hi, I took my IELTS on 27th April, and they informed me that my result was investigated on 10th May. And I gave them my handwritten statement immediately on that day, but got no feedback – even no a confirmation about receiving my email. After that, I send another email to ask for a response on 13th May. On the second day, they replied that they received my email but could not give me any exact date about the result of investigation.
Then I realized I should not put my life on these untrustworthy people. So I booked another testing at another testing site on 1st June. After another 2 weeks, I got my required result on 14th June.
So in general, it wasted me 1 extra month and money to receive my result, and I still have no news about the so called investigation of my testing on 27th April.
At the end, I believe these investigations could be just a way of making money by IDP. Please don’t put your life on them if you really need your result ASAP.
As I was given my IELTS exam on 27th April 2019 and result was to be declared on 10th May 2019 but I received an email that your result is under some kind of investigation after that I provided a handwritten statement to the IELTS test partners with signed by me after that IELTS said that
We will give you an update on the status of this investigation on or before 5 July 2019. On 5th July 2019 they sent me an another email saying that your result is withheld and we will give you an update on 2nd August 2019.After that on 2nd August 2019 IELTS test partners send me an another email saying that your result is under some kind of investigation and result was withhold and give you an update on 30th August 2019.on 30th august saying that we will give you an update on the status of this investigation on or before 27-Sep-19. I don’t know what was the reason behind it please realise that how important the result for me. I wrote plathora of mails to various IELTS test partners but none of them help me. I am in frustration that what will be do . please help me and it’s my humble request that please give IELTS result as soon as possible.its my humble request …
I will give a tip. But please note that this is not in my capacity as an IELTS teacher. I am speaking as someone who has had to deal with companies that do not deliver on their promises. Take the problem public. Go to their official FB page and write a public note (not private) – continue to post it and update it until you get the right reply. Put those dates in your message – state that your results were withheld on May10th, then withheld again on ….etc. Companies usually start acting quicker when the situation is available for the public to read. I do not know if it will work. I do not know IELTS will respond. But it is one possible option to push them to resolve this problem. It is an awful situation for you and one that IELTS should be ashamed of.

Contact your test centre and discuss it with them. Also read this page again very carefully.
I send many mails and also contact with them they just say you agree with all policy now you have to wait. From 13 june till today I am waiting for my result but now i am very disappointed from everyone they all said we can’t do anything 😔😔 who will help me to declare my result. I didn’t get my result 😓 they even not interested in inform us about what happened with our result and don’t give proper date or day on which they give result they don’t take seriously but this problem make a bad impact of bc and idp. We spend a huge amount of money on exam and for preparation but they even not interested in pay back or give a result.. bad experience I think i waste my money as well as a year in this process.

Bc as well idp now they have become money maker by this process like withheld of ielts result.. They think that we will withheld the result of students and student will again give ielts exm, pay 13250 to them..can u imagine i m waiting from last 7 months. My exm date was 19 jan 2019. Still i m waiting. I think 2020 will come but bc cannot complete the investigation process in a year because they don’t care about students.

Hello everyone,
If ur result is still not declared even after 13 days of IELTS exam . Then u shouldn’t worry. Just keep calm dear aspirants. I know better that anxiety is normal in this condition but don’t get stressed over this.
I have suffered through the same as I have given exam on 11th may 2019 ND got my result on 4th of July. . ND one thing I learned from dear Liz is just to keep idp informed about ur delay through mail and telephonically.
And u know what , it actually worked for me.
I wrote plathora of mails to verification.ielts@idp.com and they listened carefully and advices me to keep patience . ND I m lucky that finally I got my result after a w8 of nearly 1 and a half month with band score is 7 overall .
So, if ur result is delay then it’s a good sign that u will get higher band score.
Just keep in mind to send mails on regular basis to these ielts insitutions ND just wait for the best.

The result was announced in website of 22 june but still my result not found why ???
I also faced same issue… my exam date was 13 june… result declared date was 26 june and on the day of result i received mail from British council that your results will be declared on 5th july but still i have not received my results

Hi Liz, I was supposed to get my results on the 14th of June but I received an email saying that my results were under investigation. I still did not get access to them so I am considering writing the supportive statement before my 14 days are up. However I am not sure what I should include in it? Since I don’t know my results I don’t even know what I am supposed to “justify” or explain about my results, they refuse to tell us more about the cause of the investigation. Could you tell me what I should write about in the supportive statement please?

As explained above, results are withheld either for quality checking purposes or because they suspect cheating. You have a chance to write something which defends against any charge of cheating or breaking exam rules if that is the reason your results are withheld. Unfortunately, they do not tell you the specific reason – leaving you to judge best how to tackle the situation.

– is it a kind of joke that IDP, BC , Cambridge being such big institutes /organisations , thy make this much of delay.

I understand your situation. But you must never lose hope or become negative. Do not let the actions of a third party affect your plans, your determination or your future. Hopefully your results will arrive soon. Otherwise, start preparing for another test. I like your comment about which era we are living – we are in the era where such companies as IELTS do not listen, do not improve and do not care. This is one of the areas of IELTS customer service that I think is appalling. This page has been active on my site since 2016 – during all that time IELTS could read how hurtful and damaging this policy of withholding results with clear communication, without a fixed deadline and without any indication they care about the consequences it has on people’s lives. In three years of this page highlighting a serious problem with their policies, they have changed nothing. On the whole, I like IELTS as a testing system, but this aspect of the company is disgusting, heartless and unprofessional.

I am also facing similar problem with same exam date but till date no response even after numerous emails..
Even I am a victim I can say that…gave my IELTS on 23rd of March 2019 through British Council, it has been 9 months now and my result is nowhere to be found. Till the month of August they were sending me a repetitive mail that investigation is going on and will send your result next month, but to my surprise they even stopped sending mails from September onwards.
My money gone, my precious time got wasted and whenever I try asking British council people about the update all they say is that “your result is under investigation” I wonder what kind of investigation goes on for 9 months?????? And in addition to that they suggest giving IELTS again… I mean really British Council do you have no respect or shame or accountability as to how you are robbing students out of their money, time and their trust just to keep your business moving?????
I suggest you contact IELTS Official on their FB page and post the query in public. When the comment is public, it is taken more easily. Just state clearly – I have been waiting for 9 months to hear about my results. Then demand a response in public so that the public can see how they deal with such situations which cost you £XXX. Try it and see if it helps. Keep pushing them in public. Good luck!

Registered for IELTS British Council Academic for June 1, 2019. Received LRW dates through SMS. I have been daily checking Mails, Spam, SMS and Candidate area since the day I have registered for IELTS for Speaking.
But today on 31 May, I checked my candidate area and I felt shocked to see that Speaking was scheduled for 31 May at 10:20 AM.
Though, I have received for LRW through SMS, I was NOT notified about Speaking through SMS or email. Also, I checked my candidate area on a daily basis since the day I booked for IELTS. Is this is a system bug or what ?

You need to contact your test centre directly. Explain that you didn’t receive the email. Ask them to forward the email them sent. This way you will know if they sent it and you didn’t receive it OR if they didn’t send it. Also check which email you used to register with them. For more you talk to them and ask for confirmation of the email, the quicker this will be resolved.

I took the computer delivered test from ielts IDP on May 2nd 2019 and IDP has informed that my results are under additional quality checks.
Please let me know the time frame as to how long this would take? In the previous comments from the years 2017 and 2018, I noticed that it took somewhere around 2 to 6 months for the issues to be resolved. Is it same in 2019 or are there are changes to the time frames? Please advice.
I posted a comment here but it wasn’t approved, not sure why. But here’s my two cents for you, I gave exam on 13 April 2019 and my result was delayed for processing that’s all they replied to my email. However, I got my result on 8th May. It looks like due to band difference of 2.5 they were rechecking it. Though the low writing score doesn’t make sense to me. Don’t worry. Keep patience and don’t panick seeing the time frame here like me. It’s not as bad as before now.

Thank you for your advice. I’ve sent a scanned hand written statement to them as they requested it. I mentioned everything about the way I prepared and that the test centre was very vigilant and all. I hope that they look into the camera footages of the test centre ASAP because all that they can find is me doing the test without moving an inch let alone cheating. I need those results ASAP but only god knows when would I receive them.

I gave my exam on 13th April and my result got withheld which was not only nerve-wrecking but also complete new for me, as I gave Ielts before and didn’t experience anything like this. I wasn’t notified or anything from my test centre. Hence, the first thing I did was google and what came to my knowledge was horrendous. It made me panicked that many people didn’t get result after 6 months. Such uncertainty isn’t something that a uncertainty avoidance person like me would take. What made me even more furious was that no liability on behalf of Cambridge! There is no one who would answer for this! Finally, I decided that I am not letting my luck sit on their hand and rather registered for TOEFL aa I don’t trust Cambridge.
Now the twisting point is that I got my result after 25 days of my test date and now I will give toefl which would not be necessary only if I hadn’t panicked and kept some patience. So whoever is reading this, keep some patience, I can not assure that you will get your result within 30days like me, but can suggest you that wait at least a month before registering for another exam. Besides, plan your IELTS 6/7 months beforehand from your expected deadline.
Previous score in 2016: L-7.5, R-7.5, S-7.0, W-7.0 overall-7.5
New score: L-8.5, R-8.0, S-8.0, W-6.0 overall-7.5
My writing score was surprising as I prepared for only writing, and I don’t think that after graduating with a distinction in UK where I wrote extensive amount of academic papers, my writing skill has deteriorated. Perhaps, this gap was the reason of my delay.
On a side note: After taking Toefl I will be able to say which one is a better indicator.

IELTS have specific requirements and specific meaning behind their instructions. There are ways of showcasing your English which does not follow your usual academic writing methods. You must understand how the examiner reviews your writing and what makes your score go up or down. For this reason, it is very common for people with excellent English not to prepare properly for writing and thus get a writing score that does not match their level of English. However, you’ve done really well overall 🙂
I wrote the exam in October 2018, My exam result was withheld and till today 14/march 2019, it has not been released. This is rubbish, spending so much money for it to be seized or withheld. The management does not know what they are doing. that is corruption.
If I have cheated then cancel the result rather than putting me on hold for this long.
The have to put a limit on length for investigation, this is not Russia collusion with Trump, this is people lives
I completely agree. There must be guarantees of time limits for withholding results and clear, transparent communication. IELTS really need to do something about this. How were your results?

I sat for computer – delivered test on march 30 2019, considering the faster results as it is terribly important to boost my score for immigration purpose. However, i have been informed by my test center that results are withheld for few candidates and no confirmation shall be given until IDP Australia perform control checks. Why is it happening?

First of all check your email maybe your IELTS result is withheld by Ielts test partner, in this case you won’t receive your result, all you need to do is wait for the result.
I didn’t got any email not even in the spam folder and I need it urgently and I am reading here other comments many of them got there results after 3 to 4 months that’s too long I gave it in Manchester , have emailed them letsee fingers crossed
You should call them on their help line number as its been 4 months and my result is withheld by ielts test partner.

Same problem with me but I got my result on 16 January 2019 and I got 8, 8.5, 7, 7.5 in LRWS respectively. My exam date was 18 August 2018 IDP.

Try their public FB page – post your comment as a public comment so that they must pay attention. Continue to post comments, send emails, phone and do anything else you can.

Hi Liz , does British Council closed on Good Friday and Easter !! I took my exam 6th of April 2019 and today 19th of April so results suppose to be published I’m continuing checking my result but system says no result found .. I rang them several time there given number but answer machine replied they are busy!! Whome should i contact in nepal ??
It is considered a Bank Holiday which means most companies close down until Tuesday. Check their website to see if they have details about closing and opening times.
yeah.. i also gave the test on 6th of april; however , i haven’t got my result yet. i tried it more than 100 times but it still says no results found.. it was supposed to get published on 19th i.e yesterday, but we have not still got the results. is there any way we can get access to them ??

Hi guys , anyone here who’s taken the exam on Dec 13 2018 (academic UKVI)? We were supposed to get our scores on 29th , but still no sign of it …customer care agents keep saying the same thing over n over again .

I took academic exam on 8th Dec. The result supposed to be released yesterday. However, until now the online system only show”no results found”. I cannot contact my local test center ( British Council) as they are closed for Christmas holiday until next Thursday. I also have not received any email explain why my result was delayed. Anyone know if this due to the holiday or my result has been withheld…I am very nervous now because I need my result by mid Jan 🙁
Hey don’t worry u can write an email to British council mentioning that u need to submit to University or so but please ensure to attach the reference about the timelines from ur University

Same problem with me. I have got an email from British Council that they are investigating for quality control and they will let me know. but it’s been already 10 days. No answer whatsoever. My master’s application process is being delayed for this.

I was about to receive result today but not received and when i called bc customer care they told few results are delay and yours too. So wait till 16nov 12 pm. Worried after reading all comments here.

This is happening more frequently now. It happened with me as well and mainly it is because that there is a band difference of more than 2 point amongst LRWS. For example you might have scored 9 in Listening and a 7 in Speaking or Writing
So r they going to cancel my result just because of this reason or they will release the actual result???
You should get your result in couple of months. For my exam in April 2018, my results were released in October 2018.
I got 9 in Listening, 9 in Reading, 7.5 in Writing and 8 in Speaking.
My guess why my results were withheld is that in my earlier attempt in March 2018, I had an issue with the AC and had formally complained to the exam invigilator in form of a written form immediately post my exam.
They offered me a free re attempt which I accepted and took in April 2018.
Probably there was a big gap in my scores of previous exam to April one.

Hello! I appeared for IELTS (IDP from Noida) on August 18th, received an email stating that it under quality control and the results will be declared after so and so date. Till today I have not received my results and with no updates by when they will be declaring.

I received an email from IDP that my results are permanently withheld with a pdf file and in that file, they mentioned that the following actions will be taken:
1. The result will not be released and a Test Report Form (TRF) will not be issued.
2. A report has been made to the IELTS Test Partners and any nominated Recognising Organisations.
So, this means the I can not write the IELTS again or the PR process cannot be processed?
Kindly guide me what to do? am I eligible to write the IELTS again? If yes, then my results will be considered by the immigration authorities or not?

My Son gave IELTS exams in the month of April and the result was supposed to come on 14th April,2018 , On 14 Apriol,2018 we got message that due to strict quality control his result will out by 22nd June and these kind of email are coming on every month and now it is postponed for the next update in September,2018. In the meantime, he gave the exam once again and cleared. But this is totally unprofessional behaviour of IELTS what I understand that they had missed the bundle of papers and they are keeps informing the candidates with the same reason. Is anybody there who had faced this problem and finally got the result.
Is there any legal action needs to be take against this Institute … Please suggest.

I appeared in the exam of 10th march 2018 which was conducted by IDP. It has got 4 months from the test date but i have not got my result till now. When i call to the customer care of IDP ielts they just give me a robotic answer that your result is under investigation and you have to wait and we will intimate you when we will get any update.

This message is for all those who are facing the issue of result being withheld by British council/ IDP.
I took my exam on 8th September, and instead of getting the result on 21st, I got an email which stated that my result is withheld due to some breach done by me on test date. I was totally devastated, as my whole plan was getting messed up. On the top of it, the first thought that struck my mind after reading such email was, “Are they are trying to put some cheating blame on me?” Well! to answer that, it is not true in all the cases.
Results are withheld either due to audit purpose or some malpractice reported by the Invigilator. Malpractice could be as innocent as asking for some extra time for revision. Inspite of declining your request and taking the sheet back, the Invigilator can still report an issue against you. Strange! isn’t it? Apart from it, I feel BC/IDP take chances in releasing less results also. Very less candidates follow-up with them pro-actively, so good number of rejected souls end up booking an another exam without putting an effort and fighting for themselves. It is all money making scam, so you better be aware of your rights.
Here are the things I did to get my result released within a week:
1) I read all the Ielts test guidelines for students, test takers, and investigation process. As per it, you can only be blamed for a breach if you were warned about it on the test date.
2) Write a strong email to them as a response, and communicate clearly how it has impacted your complete plan.
3) British council’s TAT to respond on your emails is 72 working hours, which I know is too much, so keep sending reminder emails.
4) Call their customer care executives, and tell them how important this result is for you. Ask them to write an email on your behalf to the investigation team so that they can speed up the process.
By doing above three steps( point 2, 3, 4), I was able to get my result on 30th Sept. Which was of no use though 🙁
Here is my score:
Listening: 8
Writing: 7.5
Speaking: 7.5
Reading: 6.5 ( I swear to my God, there is no way I made 8 mistakes to qualify this score)
Anyways, I am booking again. Hope I get 8,7,7,7 this time.

I gave my IELTS exam on 21st April 2018 and I got a notification today that my results have been withheld and I will get an update on the same before 22nd June 2018.
This was a second attempt which was rescheduled by Britich Council since I had faced issues in my previous attempt and had written a formal complaint about it. They had acknowledged my problem and offered me a free re take which I had expected.

Me too, appeared on 21st april 2018, idp trivandrum (India). During the examination the hall was perfect and I never experienced any inconvenience in any manner.However I was expecting to get a result on 3rd May. Until 5th May I waited, after which i contacted idp team. I came to know from them that my results are under investigation. And today 12th of May I received a mail from team idp saying my results got cancelled. This is really disgusting. I have never done any kind of malpractice. I gave the IELTS academic paper on the 16th and 17th of December, 2017 in Hong Kong. Its soon going to be 4 months since I gave the paper and still have not received my results. This policy is too long like you’ve cheated or been scammed after months of study. This policy is rubbish. We are entitled to a result! They don’t consider our deadline and more concerned on their profits and on administering future exams! It’s really frustrating. Am I gonna take the exam again? Hell no! At first, I didn’t believe that the IELTS exam is money-making and that opinion is from those who didn’t prepared well. But after the delay for almost a month and still waiting in vain, I think now that IELTS is purely business without considering their candidate’s deadline. If there should be any quality control, why don’t they have a time limit for this? A week should be enough! We paid, we were pushed to our limits during the exam, then what? nor result?? Not even an email for an update and I need to keep ringing them, asking if there is an update. This is an area that they must address. They don’t even consider their test-takers! I wrote IELTS on 24th March. I am facing similar issue and they do not give a timeline. They keep talking like robots and I tried my best through email, phone and chat, they still give a robotic response that my results are withheld and are under scrutiny. I am frustrated like everyone else here and now I am thinking of taking some serious step against them because we spend our effort, time and money to take up the test which is bluntly ignored by IELTS officials. Let’s get together and take some serious steps against them if they do not release our result by EOM.

I did the exam on 10/2/2018.resutls were withheld and received an mail about an update on the 7/3/2018.
Today 8/3/2018,I received another mail from IDP ,in which they stated, they will give another update by 15/3/2018.
About this we agreed to wait for results factor, At the point of registration, do people have time to read and understand and compelled to do so?
Same time none of the staff clarified that your results are going through quality testing/investigation. They basically said, results will come on 13th day which repeated as soon as I finished the exam too.
Please advice do we get refunded our fee or could we get the help via human rights.

I took my test Jan 20th in Sri Lanka. I received my results on Feb15th. I did not get any email updates, no notifications at all. Only looked online by chance since people posted their results were coming through. I don’t know why they cant just say that there is a delay releasing the results instead of this whole “your results have come under scrutiny and are being investigated”. As if like you have cheated!! BC and IELTS need to be more professional without causing unnecessary stress and wasting our valuable time. My advice to all is to do another English exam that is acceptable other than IELTS. If not, then do it 6-9 months in advance and wish you the best of luck!!

Changing your postal address while filling the form might be the reason why my ielts result is withheld. Is it so? Any idea guys! I changed my postal address for some reasons in third attempt but earlier, I was using some other address for ielts report card to deliver.

I got my results today! I took my test on Jan 20th in Chennai. Results were withheld due to some scrutiny, and according to the last update from BC they informed me that I should receive further update by Feb 19th. However to my goodness, I received the results today.

I got my result announced which was withheld for so long . I gave my ielts test on 20 january 2018 . The result date for test was 2february but my results were withheld till 9 february and again got a text from british council that my results are withheld till 19 february but today i got my results announced . I scored 7 band overall . I am soo happy . Wish you luck whosoever are waiting for their results . I wish they will be released soon . . 😊👍
Given IELTS on 20th Jan, same situation. BC said they will update me on 19th Feb. This is unacceptable. After paying 12k for a test and waiting 13 days I am entitled to at least a result. If my result is going through scrutiny then I should be notified few days before not at 11:57 via email when the result is going to be released at 12:00. This is so unprofessional of them.
I gave my IDP IELTS test on January 20,2018 in Chandigarh, India. The result was to come out on Feb 3, which they further stretched it to Feb 9; and to my chagrin, on Feb 9 they sent an email at 3:30pm saying that it would come out on February 16! This is really weird. What makes worse is their level of transparency – they are neither sharing the actual reason of “over-delay” nor reverting to social media posts (in fact, they are deleting those posts) and posting their sales-pitch or quoting guys like Henry Ford!!
Seriously, It peeves to write it but IDP guys are a bunch of unprofessional amateurs who don’t really know “service” part of business.
Yup. This is getting annoying day by day. This is second time my result is getting scrutiny, actually many people from our center got the same email. They already conduct the test in very strict environment, I do not know what the scrutiny is all about.
Rishabh, you are right. And I suspect that they are just FAKE bodies sucking money from Indians just by becoming “Judge of English language”! I sent a tweet to @IDPGlobal but it has been over 48 hours and they are mum! It is all a scam and I doubt that provided our politicians/ministers’ credibility, such IELTS test takers might be having full back up from our dishonest ministers. These bodies are just corrupt. Now, I regret spending my INR 12,100 and wasting one full day. Today, I will escalate it to HRD ministry, let’s see what happens. Their support executives are foolish and NOT at all transparent. This is a BIG BIG SCAM.

I’m still waiting for my ielts results for the exam written on 20th Jan. I got an email stating they will send next update by 19th Feb. However, I got an sms from blue dart stating there is a package from British council that will be delivered by tomorrow (15th feb). I request someone create a WA group for candidates facing problems with getting their IELTS results. Whether Academic or General, I urge we all get together and workout a plan to raise our concerns to respective authorities.
Dude, British Council is 100 times better than IDP. You are lucky you didn’t choose IDP.
My result of 6th january 2018 from British Council was withheld from last 3 weeks and now they said me email that your results are withheld permanently due to cheating issue what the hell is British Council is doing i even can’t digest this nonsense my complete future was depending on this result and now they did this plz advice me what can i do now as it was my 4th attempt

Hello all, I gave my test on Jan 20th in Hyderabad for IELTS General Training. My results were supposed to have come out on Feb 2nd, which were delayed until Feb 9th. And again today I received a mail stating the Investigation is still on and I will need to wait until Feb 19th. This wait is so frustrating. They are not even confirming whether the results will be definitely out by Feb 19th. I am guessing it could delayed even further. The British left but I feel we are still at the mercy of BC 🙂
It’s really quite disconcerting that most results are being withheld. Wrote the exam on 6th January 2018 in Dubai and still awaiting results. Is there anyone else there waiting who wrote from Dubai on the 6th of Jan?
My test was also conducted on 6th January, 2018 from Islamabad. Haven’t received TRF yet.
I took my test on 6th jan in Islamabad, Pakistan. Results were due on 19 jan but got this particular email. BC is using delaying tactics like “Investigation” and “quality check” blah blah. I am in contact with BC since then. Recently they provided me with a date of 8 feb with additional but meaningless apologising. Well, tomorrow is 8 feb, i hope we get results instead of further information ( which happens to be the same in every mail i.e to wait…)

I suggest we get togater at embassy lodge where the test is conducted and show out concerns infront of ielts staff because they have no concreate reason for this delay.
Exactly but Embassy Lodges was just a location for the test and it is considered as a test centre. Where we actually need to go is British Council in Islamabad. I’ll call the concerning authorities tomorrow and confirm the location where we have to go for our complaints. I’ll be in contact with you.

I gave a call to British Council as I was loosing my patience and had not received any updates from them via email or sms. To my utter surprise they informed me that my results have been released!! They did not intimate this to me either by email or sms!! So annoyed at the fact that I have probably been waiting patiently when my results have already been released. And my results don’t show up online either. I have to go British Council and pick up my report. Will do that today or tomorrow. So my advise is for everyone waiting to call up British Council and check with them whether your results are released.

My email states- Results are routinely analysed before they are issues. These procedures have flagged results from the test taken on 20 Jan 18 for further analysis and therefore your result will not be released on 2 Feb.
Does this means that they found something with my test(two band difference between modules) or it’s only quality check?

I sat to IELTS UKVI in Qatar 20th January 2018 I did not receive SMS, I couldn’t see my results online and on Saturday February the 3rd I went to BC and they said my result is withheld and I have to contact the examination section over the phone on Sunday, I did and they said we will send an email to explain why your result is withheld, 2 hours late I received the email (due to strict quality control procedures and we shall let you know if the investigation is complete ) that’s the case and I am waiting.

Yeah, I gave mine 20th Jan 2018 too, in Bangalore, the test centre near Yeshwanthpur (some convention center). There was a power cut in between the test, was wondering if that had anything to do with it – but looks like a lot of people in a lot of different places had this issue.

I got my result by text message in Qatar and really it was a bad score.Afternoon again recieve a mail from BC that mentioning your result is with held for checking.I make a call to BC they inform me yes it was on hold.They dont know why send a text message.We need to wait until next mail.I seriously doubt these Ielts centers are doing some malpractice.And i dont know where to say all those issues.
Let us put some faith on process…may be it is held to prevent any illegal intervention… people get their score and frequent checks are inevitable for standardization
